Good joke

The Middle Eastern folk hero Mulla Nasr Edin used to
bring a team of donkeys laden with saddle bags across the
border, week after week.
Chin
The local customs inspector became convinced that Mulla was
smuggling something.  But, year after year, each time the
inspector stopped him and opened up the saddle bags, he could
nothing at all.
Cross Bones
Finally, the customs inspector retired from his job and
he sought out Mulla and asked, "Mulla, all those years
I know you were smuggling something. But what was it?"
Blink
Mulla Nasr Edin shrugged and answered, "Donkeys."rotfl

BP and the Oil Spill

I have been amused by the Republican comparison for the BP oil spill in the gulf and President Oboma to Katrina and President Bush. This being done by the very people who a short time ago were shouting "Drill baby drill." The two are in no way similar events. The hurricane was a force of nature that we saw coming for weeks. Everyone knew that it was a powerful storm that was going to hit the gulf coast and the Mississippi river delta and New Orleans were a target. FEMA ignored the warrnings and even when the news reported the disaster FEMA was slow to move. President told the director "Heck of a job."
Stamp
BP through greed short cut safety efforts against the advice of the drillers, according to a worker on the rig.  The current administration has been on the job from the beginning trying to deal with a most difficult man made disaster. The fact that the previous administrations and congress have been allowing very deep ocean drilling using second rate blowout preventer's that the industry said would not allow such an accident.  Now we discover that the oil industry and the regulator's were very cozy and the later were not paying attention.
What
An interesting note is that those who gave full support to the Bush administration on Katrina are in a back door way saying he did a lousy job by making this comparison.

Throwing Money Away

I was taking a stroll through my fair city of Bellemeade Kentucky and on my homeward leg of my journey. I noticed a car up ahead actually stopping at a stop sign, a rare event in these parts. Then I observed the driver’s door opening and the driver dumped the ash tray on to the street, closed the door and made a right turn to drive away. I was incensed that some one would dirty up our street like that. I ran up to the corner but the car was already out of sight so I did not get an ID on the driver or the car.
 Bash
Then I examined the pile of debris on to my amazement it was not debris from smoking but money. It was coins; to be exact it was penny’s dimes, nickels and a few quarters just thrown away. Some one threw money away.  I was incredulous that money was just tossed out. It could have been donated to charity or used to make a purchase but it was dumped out on the street.
 Chin
Being a good mayor who wants to keep his city clean and neat I retrieved the afore mentioned illegal deposit and brought it home. When I counted it I came up with $2.36 just tossed away. What is wrong with some people?

I need to take more walks around here.

The Crooked Path

How many ways can we find to take a crooked path?
 What
When driving your car at a too fast rate do  you slow down when you see a police car up ahead? Do you flirt with a coworker and hope your spouse won’t find out?  When a cashier gives you too much change, do you give it back? What do you do with a valuable item you find in a public place?
 Chin
Even if the chances of getting caught on a crooked path are small we are personally damaged by being on that path. If we practice a life of personal integrity we will  live a more secure and happier life. If we practice uncompromising honest and faithfulness we will never have to deal with the embarrassment of being caught on the crooked path.
 Angel
Leave the crooked path to others and walk the straight path in the security of integrity.

Come Holy Spirit

Today is "Pentecost" in the Christian Church. The event of the birth of the Church Universal is found in the book of Acts chapter two.
Chin
Today we Christians celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit to empower the Church. We read that there were people of many nations and languages gathered in Jerusalem and when the Holy Spirit filled the Apostles every one there heard the Gospel preached each in their own native language. Some five thousand sols were saved that day and took the Gospel home to their native land.
Cool
May the Holy Spirit fill the church anew today.

Happy Birthday Christian Church. Cake
