Fast and Faster???

Driving through the mountains a sign read, "Fastest Scenic Route" and I just had to laugh out loud!

We are all in such a rush that we seldom take time to enjoy the world around us as a gift from God. Everything has to be an instant pleasure and gone just as fast. Tourist flock in to a famous scene snap a few picture and fly off to the next scene. Later they glance at t heir photos before filing them away never to be viewed again.

We live so fast that we become exhausted and discouraged and our lives seems to have no meaning. Many of our relationships lack depth because we do not invest enough time in them. The real key to getting the most out of life is found in psalm 46:10 ---

"Be still, and know that I am God."

In our demanding and hectic lives, that idea can be lost in the midst of the hustle.  Understanding it is crucial if we are to really live as we were meant to. Take time to stop and listen to all that surrounds you. Be totally still for even a short time and feel the presence of the Holy Spirit who is already with you and waiting.

  1. In the mountains of Virginia last weekend was filled with fantastic beauty. I pulled off the road several times to just take in all the sights.

    Good post.

  2. If one is taking the scenic route, most-likely one is not in a big hurry and is awed by the scenes that the route affords. I suppose life is the same kind of journey - but admittedly there are times when the scenery is lost in the chaos.
