Aging Changes

Less than a hundred years ago the average life span was less than 50 years. It was extremely rare for a person to live past a hundred.

That has changed significantly! There are a lot of people who pass the century mark. This has created a problem for funding Social Security and Medicare. Interesting is the fact that Social Security and better health  is one of the reason we live so long now. Now age related problems that once killed us are treatable so that we can endure them.

Will we one day be able to extend our life span past 200 years?

How many people can this planet sustain?

  1. You are saying that Social Security contributes to long life? How so?

  2. Burstie,

I don't think he means living longer because of Social Security but I do think he means it about staying healthier.

Having said that, I would have to come to your conclusion if I did not know Larry and his writing style.

    Cheers,
    Bobby

  3. Actually Social Security has kept many lower income people from starving as well as providing for better health. So it has contributed to more people living longer.

  5. I am not accustomed to thinking about being on Social security as a benefit to a healthier life. For me it would be a downward spiral as my perspective is skewed in a different direction.

I can see you point very clearly however. Given starving to death or Social Security you make a very strong case...
