Spiritual Nourishment

Spiritual Nourishment
Angel
I was working on a sermon and doing the scripture study for the message and my stomach growled with hunger. I was almost finished but was being torn between completing the study or stopping and getting something to eat.
Blink
The scripture happened to be first Peter second chapter. The second and third verses read, “Like newborn babies, crave spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.”
Chin
I remember when my darling daughters were infants and would cry loudly to be fed. The wanted milk and they knew it and were not about to miss a meal. Growing up they consumed hundreds of gallons of milk and grew strong.
Happy Yes
This is a lesson for us to keep growing strong in our relationship with God we need to consume spiritual food on a daily basis. That day I decided that my lunch could wait until I finished my spiritual food in first Peter. I decided to savor the word of God in my life and be nourished. Then I enjoyed a lunch of physical food even more.

Cures For Aging

A middle aged woman was furious with her doctor who said he could do nothing for her condition. She decided to find another doctor to help her. During the interview she said, “My last doctor refused to treat my condition which is unacceptable. So I decided to change and see if you can help me.

Her new doctor asked what condition she had. The woman pointed to wrinkles at the sides of her eyes and said, “I watched my mother get old and I won’t have it. What can I do to avoid aging?”

The new doctor looked at her for a long time and then she said, “There is only one thing that is a sure cure. Which terminal disease would you like to have?”
Blink
Many people cringe at the thought of wrinkles, hair loss, creaking bones and other nasty problems that come with aging bodies. They spend a huge amount of money on creams, pills and equipment that usually does not work. But few would exchange those inconveniences for a terminal illness.
AngelChin
Each stage of life is a gift and the goal should be to grow old gracefully seeking love and blessings in each stage of our lives. Spiritual strength, peace of mind and prayer is the path for that grace in aging. One of the positive ways to face life changes is to develop a good sense of humor as you make your way along life’s path. Enjoy your day that God has given you.

Holy Humor - Preacher's Kids

One Sunday the preschoolers were dismissed to go to Churub Church and the most energetic was the preachers son. He raced down the center aisle as though behind the wheel of a imaginary racing car. He even provided the congregation with sound effects at the top of his lungs. “Varooooom and Schreeeech” he cried as  he leaned into a hairpin curve.

His father pastor was unshaken and said in a strong fatherly voice, “Park it Henry and give the keys to your mother!”

Women of the Bible - Hagar

Hagar The Egyptian

On their journey into Egypt Abraham and Sarah acquired a slave girl named Hagar as a servant for Sarah. As it happened Sarah was frustrated that she was unable to become pregnant and give Abraham a son. In the culture of those days that was a big problem for a wife and she had passed the normal age for childbearing. Sarah came up with the idea of a “Surrogate Mother” to produce a son for her and Abraham.

Sarah took her slave girl Hagar to her husband and proposed the idea. Abraham was agreeable and a son Ishmael was born. All was well for a while but then low and behold Sarah conceived and bore Isaac. In those days the first son inherited everything and that meant Ishmael. Sarah begged Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away so that Isaac could be the first son.
Angel
Hagar realized that they would starve to death but an angel showed her a water well and promised that Ishmael would be the father of a great nation. Today we call them Arabs.
