Fallen Leaders

Jesus spoke about the super religious people who did everything for the show. He said: “They love to have the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues, and to be greeted with respect in the market place.”

People of power must have a strong ego in order to lead but that ego must be kept in check by humility or it take over the soul. Wax in front of a fire will melt and the ethics of an ego in public praise will dissipate. A soul showered with vain praise will weaken and wither.
 Blink
Most of the men and women in religious leadership are honest faithful people who love God and love those they lead. Even Jesus was tempted by evil and resisted it by knowing the scriptures. All of us are tempted and many sin but some ego possessed yield completely to the dark side of life.

My sadness is that in the process some good souls are harmed by the actions of fallen religious leaders who yielded to temptations. In times past the sins of church leaders were swept under the rug to “Protect the Church” which it didn’t. Now with the eyes of the camera and people willing to report the sin to the public there is no sweeping under the rug. That is a GOOD THING!

  1. It reminds us that we must be accountable. And we must keep that "old black book" open. And READING it!
