Political Violence

The past two years of political rhetoric has had a relentless escalation of calls for violent actions against the political left – read that democrats. I have viewed “Tea Party” videos calling for the death of our president and those who support him. It has been more than a difference of opinion. It has been hateful.

Is it any wonder that what happened in Tucson, Arizona is a reality? Are those radical right “news personalities” who spew hate against President Obama partly responsible for the actions of a deranged young man shooting a democrat congresswoman in Arizona?

Our freedom of speech carries with it the responsibility to be aware of the possible reactions of the fringe elements in our society who carry guns.

  1. I don't disagree with anything you've said, but I think you're overlooking the potential for violence coming from the liberal left. Extremism from any source is a serious problem.

  2. You are correct about that. At the moment it is the far right but I remember the 60's when some of the far left was doing the same thing.

  3. It is ridiculous though that the mainstream media has linked and they did this immediately to the Right, to Sarah Palin, etc. As if there was some big plan. This is one messed up mentally ill man acting alone. But we are dealing with the mainstream media here...with absolutely no class at all.

  4. This nut may not have had any political affiliation, but The Right Wing really does have the corner market on crazy extremism now. Further, I don't recall any leftist movements in response to the Reagan Bush years that were comparable to the militia movement of the 90s or the current tea party.

  5. Larry, You'll get a kick out of this - was just reading Harpo's blog and some anonymous poster with obvious conviction told Dorrie that Fred Phelps was a "leftist shill". Gotta love those wingers. LOL.

  6. It's all the same...both sides are slinging this nonesense around. Both are just as bad, pointing fingers at the other. Old news.
