FORWARDS

I get more than the usual amount of email forwards and I delete most of them. Some have been forwarded a dozen times and I get the same ones from different people. Forwarded emails have become very dangerous as spammers are creating bogus messages that they know will be forwarded to a lot of people. What is embedded in the email is a hidden cookie that every time you forward the message the person who originated the email gets a copy of your address book and send spam messages as through they came from you.

 

Be careful about what you send out and don’t actually forward any email you aren’t sure of. Messages that say forward to at least ten people are highly suspect. The better way is to copy the text in the message and create a new message.

Not Good

I was out running errands this morning and thought up a wonderful post.

But short term memory being what it is these days I can not remember what it was.

Must work on memory or get a small recorder for the car.

It's Only Stuff

I have been taking stock of the "stuff" stored in our home. I have been peering into shelves, boxes closets, the garage and atic to see exactly what we have.

I opened a box and thought, "I wondered where that was!" I repeated that many times.

Now that I am retired I see that I  have too many suits and ties. Some of them have to go as I have not worn them in three years. I could free up a lot of closet space in short order if I can just let go of my excess. I think "Goodwill" is about to get a car load.

This is not easy as I like this stuff but it is only things and if I haven't used them then what am I keeping the for?

Ninth Anniversary of 9/11

I remember clearly watching the TV in utter shock as the twin towers were struck and then fell.

How could anyone do that? It was beyond belief and understanding and we are still striving to comprehend the enormity of it all. Since then it got us into two wars with many thousands more dead. The memory still carries a lot of pain and will for decades to come. Like the news of Pearl Harbor for my parents I will always remember that moment when the world changed.

Prays for peace in our world.

CONSPIRACY

I have noticed that no mater what the field of endeavor the far right wing thinks that there is a left wing conspiracy. Just to be fair the far left wing believes that there is a right wing conspiracy.

You know they are both correct.

Birds of a feather flock together and try to deal with rival flocks. 

Fire and Brimstone???

Yesterday I was leading a seminar on “An Introduction to Bible Study” for a friend of mine. I arrived early and as is my habit I snooped around the sanctuary. The shelves inside pulpits usually contain interesting items.   [oh you didn’t know they have shelves?]  This one had something I had never seen before, a fire extinguisher. Perhaps to put out the fire of a preacher who preaches hot brimstone?

On the way out of the sanctuary I noticed that the place where one usually finds a clock there was a thermometer. They really keep an eye on how hot the preaching gets in that congregation. I never thought of my friend as a fire and brimstone preacher but one never knows.

Of course that is only a subjective thought but it gave me pause to think and chuckle. 

32 years and counting

It was September 8, 1978 and my darling and I stood before two preachers and a large congregation and made our wedding vows to each other and God.

We are more in love now than we were then as it was a choice made in heaven. We are soul mates and best friends.

I am looking forward to spending the rest of my life with her at my side. What joy!
